1. What is a pawn loan?

A pawn loan is a quick, convenient, and confidential way to borrow money without a credit check or hassle of traditional banking. At Abby’s Pawn Shop, you simply bring us an item of value, we assess its worth, and provide you a loan based on that assessment.

2. How does a pawn loan work?

The pawn process is as follows: We evaluate your item to see if it is eligible for a loan, and determine the amount we can offer you for it. The item remains yours, but stays with us under the contract until you pay back the loan amount plus some interest and fees. The interest and fees are set by the state of California and are highly regulated. Your item stays securely stored until you come back for it. Contrary to popular belief, items on pawn are NOT available for sale to the public, as they are under contract. If you don’t come back to pick up your item or renew your contract though, we take possession of the item and can resell it to recoup the amount loaned against it.

3. How do you determine the value of an item?

At Abby’s Pawn Shop, we have experienced appraisers who determine the value of an item based on its current condition, market value, and salability. Rest assured, we always aim to provide fair and competitive prices.

4. What items can I pawn?

5. How do I reclaim my pawned item?

You can reclaim your item anytime within the loan period by paying back the loan amount plus any accrued charges. Remember to bring your pawn ticket and a valid ID when you come to reclaim your item.

6. What happens if I can’t pay back my loan on time?

We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. If you’re unable to pay back your loan on time, please contact us to discuss possible options. You may be able to extend or renew your loan.

Your items are stored in a secured area until your loan is paid. We treat your items with care to ensure they are returned to you in the same condition they were received.

11. Is there anything I need to do before pawning or selling an item?

Excellent question! Yes, please make sure to do the following before you bring your item:

For electronics: Make sure that you have all applicable passwords or can remove the passwords. For any Apple products, make sure that “Find my device” and iCloud features are turned off. Make sure to disconnect your Apple Watches from iCloud as well. Make sure that the device is charged at least 50%. Please bring all necessary cables/connectors for us to confirm full functionality.
